CMS Structures (DRAFT)
Background
Use of four structure types (Rubble Mounds, Culverts, Weirs, and Tide Gates) with the Coastal Modeling System was introduced in 2013. The implementation for Rubble Mounds was not integrated into the Surface-water Modeling System (SMS) interface until SMS 13.0. A few minor adjustments to this interface were made in version 13.3 of the SMS. There were delays in the implementation of the other three structure types, however, version 13.4 of the SMS will fully implement all four structure types.

Documentation
A technical note was started in 2024 for the newer implementation of Rubble Mounds. With the implementation of the other structures being imminent in SMS 13.4, the material Rubble Mounds will be incorporated into a larger Special Report in FY25 that covers all four structures. The original methods for implementing these structures in CMS are covered by the technical notes listed below.
